Order flow
To understand order flow, you must first know about order capture. Order capture is the end-to-end process of taking customer orders and converting them into a format that can be processed by the order management system which is then propagated to other downstream systems such as billing and reporting.
Order flow is a subprocess of order capture that provides a defined sequence of steps. These must be executed to capture contextual order information, usually by a sales rep. Orders are captured in each customer’s native format and then converted into the format required by the order management system.
In some cases, these two processes may be combined into one. For example, an e-commerce system may allow customers to place orders directly into the system without requiring any system integration or manual intervention. In this case, the order capture and order flow processes are combined into one. This method generally is not as flexible and customizable.
With Industries CPQ, you have the option to use the order management add on or use a separate order management system which might have already existed.
The most common order types handled by an order flow are MACD, Move Add, Change, and Disconnect.
A Move Order is a request from a customer to a company (telecommunications, Utilities, etc) to move or transfer their service from one location to another.
An Add Order is defined as an additional purchase that a customer makes on top of their initial order. This could be the result of an upsell by the company, or simply because the customer needs more of the original product offering.
Change Order is a request to modify existing services or agreements. Change orders can be used to add, remove, or alter any number of provisions in an agreement, including but not limited to pricing, terms and conditions, services, and equipment.
A Disconnect Order is a request to discontinue an agreement or service to a customer.
To rapidly develop the order flow process in Salesforce Industries, you can use OmniStudio, a suite of Salesforce tools built to enable the assembly of your businesses order flow.
